Age No Barrier For Young Businesswoman

A teenage entrepreneur’s innovative new business idea has been cited as an example of what can be achieved with minimal experience.

Irena Kassner, from Nottinghamshire, is only 16 years old but earlier this month was given the green light to publish a free monthly directory called ‘Where’s?’, which will provide details about local businesses and - in an novel twist - include customer feedback.

She completed a course at Nottingham Trent University’s business incubation unit - known as the Hive - becoming the youngest person to do so, and praised the help she received in devising her idea.

Speaking to Ashfield Today she said: “The advice I received was invaluable and my confidence in my own ability has increased substantially. The help, support and encouragement I received simply cannot be measured.”

Hive outreach project manager Dr David Huxley was effusive in his praise of the young businesswoman, saying that age is no barrier for ambition.

“She has shown you do not have to be experienced to start a new business. Irena now knows what she must do to succeed and we have every expectation she will,” he told the same website.

The Where’s? directory will be delivered to homes in the Sutton area and it is hoped that a website will soon be launched to accompany it.
