Entrepreneur Puts Insurance Knowledge To Good Use October 3
A former insurance loss adjuster from Coventry is preparing to launch his new business after putting his insurance knowledge to good practice.
Luke Brown has seen plenty of incidents of flood damage during his time as a loss adjuster and is acutely aware of the devastation that a flood can cause to properties. As such, he has developed a new product which can shut off the water supply as soon as a leak is detected.
Mr Brown has developed the Pipe Guard product after years working as a loss adjuster for the insurance industry and has worked out how to use the knowledge acquired over this time to put it to good use by setting up his own company.
His original product has sold well and was aimed at homes, but now he has developed another version of the Pipe Guard which is aimed more at businesses and larger properties.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mr Brown explained: “Water leaks cost the UK economy more than £500 million a year and I saw the problem at first hand when I worked for an insurance firm.
“Sorting out the leak is just the start of the process - drying out alone can take up to three months and meanwhile, can cripple businesses.”
This kind of attitude shows how a person can become an entrepreneur by using their own experiences to develop solutions to the problems that they see in their everyday lives and through their workplace.
Explaining how he came up with the idea, Mr Brown commented: “I delved into whether there was anything on the market that could act as a prevention rather than a cure and was surprised to find that there was nothing on the market. I have spent a couple of years researching the product and launched the first version in May of this year”.
