Business Is Booming in Herts

Brexit? What Brexit?

With Hertfordshire bucking the trend for bad economic news, it’s clear to see that it’s a great place to do business.

Brexit. Yes, we know that you’re fed up with hearing about it – but for once we bring good news! If you’re a Hertfordshire resident or business owner, it looks as though the current political climate isn’t affecting the local economy at all. In fact, business seems to be booming!

Business is better than ever

The newspapers are full of stories about how Brexit and the build up to it is negatively impacting British businesses. Profits are falling, companies are having trouble recruiting staff, and businesses are looking to leave the UK altogether. Before you despair though, it’s not all doom and gloom! In Hertfordshire there are signs that it’s not only business as usual, but things could be on the up! A recent business report showed that the top 200 companies in the county experienced a 13.1% increase in turnover. In turn, profits then rose 16.9% in comparison to the previous 12 months. This shows that there’s a real determination to forge ahead and success despite the Brexit uncertainty.

The future

Of course, we haven’t left the EU yet. Hertfordshire business leaders were asked to predict what the biggest factor in growth for 2019 would be. Despite fears that Brexit could see less people moving to the UK, 36% of business owners hiring new people will be the single biggest driver of growth. So we should expect to see many more people moving to Hertfordshire for work, bringing plenty of positive effects on the local economy with them. If Hertfordshire is going to be more attractive to live and work in, 39% of business leaders feel that advances and innovation in technology would be the biggest factor. So there’s plenty to work on in the coming months! Judging by last year’s figures though, Hertfordshire businesses are more than ready to put that work in.

Perfect for new and experienced business owners

Strong performances at such an uncertain time suggest that Hertfordshire could be one of the areas most prepared for Brexit. So what better place could there be to do business? With its many iconic locations, diverse range of both small, medium and large businesses, and its close proximity to London, Hertfordshire has it all. So if you’re a local entrepreneur looking to get started or an experienced businessperson looking to expand, you couldn’t be in a better place to do so right now! The Herts Business Expo is also growing more popular every year and showcasing more talent and entrepreneurial spirit.

A great local hotel

If you’re a business owner looking for a venue for your next corporate event, then look no further than Beales Hotel. Regarded by many as the best hotel in Hertfordshire, this is the perfect location for any business event Meetings, parties – you name it, and they will be able to make it happen. With ample facilities, on-site parking and a central location, there’s no better place to throw your next event.

The future is bright

Of course, no one can guarantee what will happen after the UK leaves the European Union. If we look at what’s been happening in Hertfordshire though, there’s no reason to believe that with a little hard work and determination, we can make the best out of it. So here’s to a prosperous 2019 and beyond!
